Green Eyed Monster Spiked Slushsicles are the latest addition to our slushsicle collection.
This one is melon and pineapple flavored with a hint of orange.
Midori or Melon Schnapps can be used. Midori is hard to find sometimes, so I just use DeKuyper Melon.
You can adjust the hue of the green based on how much Blue Curacao you use.
I prefer the fluorescent green of a 2 to 1 ratio. It looks more like emerald green prior to freezing.
So remember that whatever color green you want for your Green-Eyed Monster Spiked Slushsicles, it will lighten up considerably once frozen. Just like an ice cube changes to white in your standard home ice maker attached tot he refrigerator or ice cube trays.
For a harder texture on this one, up the amount of pineapple juice but at least 1/4 of a cup per batch.
This is easily doubled and tripled.
Because there is alcohol in these Green Eyed Monster Spiked ice pops, a solid freezing will not happen overnight.
It may take up to 48 hours to freeze as solid as the mixture is going to freeze.
They will be edible in 24 hours, just not as frozen as the will be with another 24 hours.
There are many reasons why these ice pops may not freeze as solid as an otter pop.
It has to do with alcohol content as well as the amount of sugar in the mix and the alcohol.
Sugar lowers the freezing temperature of liquids, as does alcohol.
So basically, the lower the temperature is in your freezer and the time spent in the freezer added to sugar and alcohol changes everything.
Newair has a great article on beers freezing that explains this better.
Adult ice pops could leak prior to freezing.
They are best stored upright in a cup or bowl for the first 12 hours.
After 12 hours they will be firm enough to allow storage laid in their sides.
We call these Slushsicles because the consistency is somewhere between a frozen slush type cocktail and a popsicle or Otter Pop, except better.
Green Eyed Monster Spiked Slushsicles will melt pretty quickly if left out in the heat. They are really best served straight from the freezer.
These are best if stored on dry ice in a cooler at outdoor parties.
They will keep for brief amounts of time on a countertop if placed into an ice bucket or wine chiller with ice. But they will not stay frozen for too long.
Each pop has roughly the equivalent of one mixed drink by National Institutes of Health. Each adult ice pop contains about 2 ounces of 50 proof alcohol.
Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive. Use the NIH calculators if you have any doubts about your drink limits or alcohol content in any alcoholic beverage.
