Caramelized Onions

Perfectly caramelized onions are easy to make, all it takes is a little bit of patience!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 cups thinly sliced onions about 2 large onions

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in electric skillet set to 200 Degrees f.
  • Add onions and cover, cook for 20 minutes.
  • Stir, Cook for an additional 20 minutes covered.
  • Stir, remove cover and cook another 20 minutes.
  • As onions begin to brown stir every 5 to 10 minutes until all the onions are golden brown. This may take up to another 90 minutes.

Notes

This may take up to 2 hours depending on how many onions used. Just remember low and slow!
Add 2 tablespoons of butter if using for French onion soup.
