2– 8 count packages refrigerated crescent rollsor crescent rounds, original
12ouncesMountain Dewor other lemon-lime soda
Instructions
Preheat an oven to 350°F.
Prepare a 9 X 13 baking dish by spraying with baking spray.
Add the butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a small saucepan set over low heat and cook until the butter has melted and combined with the sugar and cinnamon, set aside to cool while you finish preparing the dumplings.
Cut each apple into 8 wedges. Remove the seeds and peel.
Roll each apple slice with a piece of crescent dough.
Place the covered apples into the prepared pan, leaving about one inch between the pieces.
Spoon the melted butter mixture over all of the dumplings. Use all of the butter.
Gently pour the soda around the dumplings, trying not to pour it on top of the dumplings.
Place into the preheated oven and cook for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
Remove from the oven and serve.
Notes
Cinnamon is optional, but I recommend it because it adds an apple pie flavor.
Use a fork or sharp knife to pierce into the apples to see if they are tender.
Any lemon-lime soda like Sprite or 7-Up would work with this recipe
