Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a loaf pan with baking spray.
In a medium-sized bowl, fill it with cold water and add the lemon juice or white vinegar.
Core, peel, and slice the green apples. Place the slices into the bowl of water and set aside.
Combine the brown sugar, all-purpose flour, and softened butter in a separate bowl. Mix and mash with a fork (or use a mixer) until well combined. Hand mixing may be required to fully incorporate everything.
Drain the apple slices and discard the liquid. Toss the apples with the white sugar and ground cinnamon, ensuring they are evenly coated.
Place the apples in the prepared loaf pan.
Sprinkle the sugar, flour, and butter mixture evenly over the apples, then press it firmly onto them.
Put the apple crumble in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60 minutes or until the top is beginning to turn darker. You may notice some liquid from the apple layer bubbling through.
Remove it from the oven.
Cool slightly before serving.
Enjoy this delicious apple crumble as a perfect dessert perfect for any occasion!
Notes
Topping Thickness: Adjust crumble thickness to your liking, avoiding excessive thickness for easy cutting and eating. I wouldn't use much more than one and half the amount of topping.
Apple Selection: Try different varieties for unique flavors. I prefer Granny Smith.
Add Some Crunch: Include chopped nuts for extra texture.
Optional Spices: Add nutmeg or allspice for warmth and spice.
Storage & Reheating: Store leftovers airtight in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat portions in the microwave or oven.
Serving Suggestions:
Classic: Enjoy warm apple crumble on its own. À la Mode: My favorite way! Pair with vanilla ice cream for an outstanding treat.
Drizzle: Drizzle with caramel or melted chocolate for an unforgettable treat.
Whipped Cream: Top with homemade whipped cream for classy touch.
