Not only does this sauce add flavor to many dishes, but it’s also incredibly versatile. I mean, I use it on everything – from garlic dipping sauce to white pizza, garlic flatbread, and even tossed with pasta for a fantastic meatless meal or fabulous side dish. Don’t forget, you can also use it as a dipping sauce!

And the best part? This easy garlic butter sauce recipe is made in one pot with just four simple ingredients – garlic, butter, olive oil, and some seasonings. Just melt the butter with some olive oil in a skillet, add grated garlic and your desired herbs and spices, and boom! It’s ready to enjoy.

Ingredients

Butter – I always use salted butter in this recipe. Add 1/4 teaspoon of salt if using unsalted butter.

Olive Oil – I am not a fan of the bitter taste of extra virgin olive oil so I use light tasting olive oil or the smooth extra virgin olive oil by Bertolli.

Grated Peeled Garlic Cloves – I use grated fresh garlic because I think it gives the finish sauce more garlic flavor without adding extra garlic. I also find that it spreads better when I am making garlic naan or garlic flatbread.

Fresh Chopped Parsley – I use fresh parsley as often as possible. It is fairly inexpensive and the flavor is much brighter than dried parsley. My second choice would be the freeze-dried parsley you can buy in the refrigerated produce section.

Black Pepper – I use the same ground pepper I keep in my pepper shaker, although the fresh cracked kind would be delicious in this.

Add the Garlic sauce and hot pasta back into the pan and stir to combine.

Add pasta water to the pasta as needed.

Add 1 tablespoon of parmesan cheese if desired.

PRO TIPS

Use fresh garlic.

If you don’t want to grate garlic cloves then I would put them through a press. Otherwise, mince it as small as possible before using. In a real pinch you could substitute garlic powder.

This garlic butter recipe can be doubled, triple, and quadrupled. The only limit is the size of your pan.
