Food Gifting

This quick and easy recipe is inexpensive making it perfect for housewarming gifts, holiday gifts, and anywhere else you want to leave behind a homemade sweet treat.

I set these out whenever we have company and always have small bags set aside for my friends to take home. If you don’t pre-package any of them, be sure to have baggies handy, your company will ask if they can take home leftovers.

Can you use this recipe on homemade pretzels?

While we love to make Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels from store-bought ones for quickness, if you have a favorite recipe to make plain pretzels, you can definitely use that first then add this delicious topping to it. Just make sure if the recipe recommends a topping, that you leave this off and follow this process instead.

Homemade pretzels won’t be as crispy as the bagged ones in the beginning, so you probably won’t have a crispy snack at the end.

Trust me, this is so easy and tasty that no one will complain that you used pretzels from the store to start with.

Pretzels, cinnamon, sugar, and oil in bowls

Ingredients

  • Pretzels, any shape
  • Vegetable oil
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon

You can use any shape of pretzel that you like but avoid ones that already have some kind of topping on them as the sugar and cinnamon might not stick as easily.

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Pretzels

  1. Preheat the oven to 250°F and line a baking sheet with non-stick foil or parchment paper. Or spray with a non-stick baking spray.
  2. Add the pretzels to a large bowl.
  3. Combine the sugar and cinnamon with the vegetable oil in a small bowl.
  4. Pour over the pretzels and stir so they are evenly coated.
  5. Pour the pretzels onto the baking sheet and make sure they are evenly spread out.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, remove, and stir then bake for another 15 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool completely before eating.

Our favorite is to eat these pretzels as they are but you can also serve them with a number of dips including caramel or chocolate sauce. Or you could add some warm cream cheese frosting or even a crepe filling to make them even tastier.

How do you store cinnamon pretzels?

Once the coated pretzels have cooled completely, you can store them in an airtight container.

Can you freeze cinnamon pretzels?

You can freeze leftovers, but honestly, it takes less time to make them fresh-from-the-oven than thawing them would be.
